    • kudos to the company and its management

    • pavan says:

may i know why June quarter numbers of jhs are flat yoy basis.? after reading your nice write up on jhs ,i was expecting that it can show good growth as it has almost all major brands as customers but baffled by flat revenue.any clue?

      • may i know why you have not learned anything from your past experiences. you have been dismissive about cybertech and giving conspiricy theories forever. the company has started living up to potential and giving good results and you were still cribbing. stock price has more than doubled since you started coming out with your theories. As i keep saying, people who live and die by the quarter have a very small life and those who go with the trend have a very “large” life. JHS is not for someone who is short sighted and is not interested in looking at the trend of the business that is developing. Also for any doubt please get in touch with the CS. I personally have strong sense of belief in the business and management of the company

Your views on bpl ace bro

    • well, i have no idea why market is giving it so much value. clearly they know something that i do not know. though technically its good. i would rather prefer a sharp at this moment giving the open offer and much better visibility.

      • Sang says:

Recently there t.v. sets and washing machines have been getting very good response and reviews Flipkart. They have also started selling health apparatus and emergency lamps also.

        • yes, this i know and its pretty well advertised by the company in the markets though i am not sure with health appratus being sold by the listed firm. neverthelss, since the online sales are normally done in severely discounted mode i am not sure of the cash flows. Therefore, i am not sure of the 270-280cr market cap for the company. i would rather loook strongly at foxconn now…std disclosure applies for BPL though.

    Gud morning Ace,

  44. Niranjan says:

    Hi Ace,

Hope things are good at your end.

I find JHS very interesting, only fly in the ointment IMO is the court case they have with P&G. In an unfortunate event of losing the case they would need to shell out 206 crores (shows up in Contingent liabilities) which can have a massive impact on JHS as that is twice the amount of their annual sales.

How do you usually factor such a risk in your investment thesis?
Thank you for sharing your views and knowledge.

    Cheers!
    Niranjan

    • these things are already discounted in valuations. first of all, if at all the case is decided “today”, the present networth comes into play. so 1. the case has to be decided. 2. it has to be decided in favor of P&G. 3. even if 1,2 plays out, the company can always contest this in higher courts. This is precisely the reason i am not even counting the positives if JHS wins the case for 600cr… because that could also be contested by P&G. Any business is about odds. odds of how well a business can do, i.e. returns vs capital invested and therefore potential loss of capital. These cases have a huge shelf life and chances of P&G winning along with company not contesting along with all this happening till the networth is not significantly higher is very less as compared to returns the business can generate. I also feel that the management has learnt its leassons and have done their SWOT analysis pretty well and that’s why they have again invested huge amount of money to revive the company. Otherwise they could have very well left the company to die as unfortunately a lot of other promoters (well advertised) have done. By the way we already have a distressed company that has generated huge returns for its shareholders despite having massive contingent liabilities – V2 Retail. Its all about odds in investing and if while researching one has taken all the possibilities to arrive at odds and now, if these odds are in favor, then it becomes a winning bet. in my assessment i have not taken the positives that could come by winning the case. also pls dont forget that in this new avataar a lot of large investors have put in money and these investors would have had that contract analysed by their own battery of lawyers before they would have decided to invest. Anyways, this is just my opinion and i could be wrong. Let’s see how it plays out.God Bless !!!

Dear Ace, I have a doubt that I wanted to ask you for the longest possible time. Like you I too am a part-time investor and have limited time. The ease of screening tools means its relatively easy to get a shortlist of 15-20 interesting stocks. How do you take the 15-20 shortlist and zoom into the 3-4 that need deep study. This is where I have struggled because of time paucity.. Thanks in advance for any advice

    Hi ace,
Do u know at what price promoters are issuing warrants to themselves in V2. Is the price at EOD of the board meeting??

    • there’s a very clear sebi rule on this.rule is – the equity shares shall be allotted at a price not less than
      higher of the following:
      (a) The average of the weekly high and low of the closing prices of the related equity shares
quoted on the recognised stock exchange during the six months preceding the relevant
      date; or
      (b) The average of the weekly high and low of the closing prices of the related equity shares
quoted on a recognised stock exchange during the two weeks preceding the relevant date.

  71. Vivek arora says:

    Sir …good morning
I m very much convinced about sharp india …coz of mnc promoter n a unique brand …n also presence of u …bt sir wanna ask a question to yu sir the main trigger in sharp india is only a open offer n may be a delisting offer or any other. …..sale is down in last 2…3. Quarter. …

    • open offer is not at all the trigger. the trigger should be the plans that foxconn has for sharp. foxconn is the right thing to have happened to the company IMHO

      • Vivek arora says:

Sir pls don’t u mind why sale drastically down in 2015 compare to 2014 in sharp india …..any reason …. planning to invest in sharp india haven’t in my dp so I can’t ask with company coz they ask for dp holdings ……..
No doubt sir it can grow business dramatically..

        • i think you have not researched at all. sales would obviously be down as there were no orders from sharp and that again was because on the background the takeover was going on. I would strongly suggest you to go through the news associated with the developments. All this is discussed on the blog so kindly go through the comments and due your own diligence.

  72. Chanadrsehekara Bhat says:

    Dear Ace,

I am new to this blog. Just started reading and wanted to know few details.
    1) is there any specific schedule for announcing the new stock recommendation?
    2) I did not see CMP(Current Market Price) of the stock is not listed, in the stock recommendation. Providing CMP, would eventually help new followers like me to understand how the stock has performed.

    Thanks & Regards, Ravi

    • 1. no. 2. how does it matter how the stock has performed. i am not here to “market” the stocks i discuss. one should look at the stocks discussed and take that as a headstart for their own research and see how their conviction develops. This blog is not a service and just a hobby of mine so do not expect any blind takes. Please try to develop the understanding of the business rather than taking the blind route

        • well, ofcourse they are trying to reward themselves a little to generously, but saying it will damage the balance sheet is a long shot. they have done well to earn this. look at the performance of the company on operating metrics in the last five years. having said that ofcourse, 2-5 is a little too generous 🙂
